Cebu is arguably a better base than Manila for most men. It combines solid city infrastructure with proximity to world-class beaches (Mactan Island, Bantayan, Moalboal, Oslob whale sharks). The dating scene has a more traditional, genuine quality. IT Park is the digital nomad hub and a genuinely excellent place to be based.
What you need to know
- IT Park — the digital nomad center. Restaurants, coworking, modern apartments.
- Lahug — residential neighborhood above IT Park. Quieter, good value.
- Mactan Island — 20 minutes from IT Park. World-class diving, beach resorts.
- Moalboal — 2 hours south. Sardine run, whale sharks, coral walls.
- Bantayan Island — weekend escape. White sand, slow pace.
- Cebu City has a more manageable scale than Manila — significantly less traffic stress.
- The food scene (lechon, seafood) is excellent and among the best value in Southeast Asia.
